The Milk Canteen provides daily meals for children ages 10 months to 3 years in the community of Dobrich, Bulgaria. Funds were donated enabling the Milk Canteen to purchase a vehicle to allow them to make deliveries to their other locations and to individuals’ homes.

Between 1,000 and 1,200 lunches are prepared every day for the children whose parents pay about $1 for these highly subsidized meals. Each meal includes a portion of soup, a main course, and a dessert. Meals are distributed through the Milk Canteen as well as 6 neighborhood pick-up stations and via home deliveries.

Parents can choose to have their child’s food delivered to their home, which has increased the number of users of the service.

“We are so pleased to be able to provide better access to Milk Canteen meals to the children and families in Dobrich. Families living in more distant neighborhoods, especially during winter months, have difficulty reaching our services. With added delivery resources, meals can be directly delivered to homes, ensuring calmness and convenience, and saving time for the parents in our town, which they can spend with their children.”

Maria Mladenova, Director of Children’s Milk Canteen

Since 2017, we’ve been helping the Milk Canteen with much-needed facility upgrades and kitchen appliances. These updates improve the Milk Canteen’s efficiency and ability to provide more meals with even wider accessibility for families.
