Juarez, Mexico is largely a food desert. Sitting on the border of the US with El Paso, it also is a place many refugees, asylum seekers and people in need find themselves with no clear way forward.
Partnering with Rio Grande Borderlands and Diocese shelters in Juarez, we provide resources for integral components of sustainable food plan for the shelters. Integrating rabbit hutches, chicken coops and more in a closed circuit smart sourcing plan, the shelter becomes empowered to create and sustain its own source of food for the asylum seekers and refugees that walk through their door every week.
This is the first of multiple projects equipping the shelters on the border to resource and protect the many asylum seekers and refugees that continue to arrive at the border seeking hope and a future.
This project funds rabbit hutches, chicken coop water systems and more to enable the shelters to create self-sustaining food for those in need.
