Our goal with KOS Tree Project Phase 1 is to help the community of Meru, Kenya become self-sufficient and sustainable through the planting of trees/seedlings. One of our founders Julius who was born and raised in this community says, “Planting trees is a very good way of changing lives here and directly alleviating people from poverty.” “That will change this area and end the perennial food shortages and famines” “I think if we start the first phase with 2,500 - 5,000 trees. We shall engage women groups, schools, churches and learning institutions. If we do about 5 phases, this place will be very green and produce enough food to feed everyone.” The funds will be allocated to cover the cost of the trees/seedings (5 Different Types), one time transportation fee, and monthly caretaking fee. With this amount of trees/seedings we are going to be able to help not just one community, but the surrounding communities as well become self-sufficient and sustainable.
