This project is intended to create a new healing space in our center - Haven 127. This will be used as a transitional processing room children can utilize when there is a removal and a foster home is not readily available for them. This will also be used for sibling sets to have an adequate time period to have the process explained to them prior to being placed in separate homes. This project and facility will create a safe space to minimize the damaging effects of this process through sensory processing, emotional regulation, and trauma informed design and aesthetic. As for the beyond aspect- we are also hoping to expand our basement area to include a training location located in house a large group of individuals. We hope to bring interactive trainings to our fostering families on things such as trauma behaviors, occupational therapy for behavioral issues, specializing in teen placement, and other continuing education that is much needed for our fostering homes.
