RAINBOW VILLAGE IN BUGISU, UGANDA is a safe space that was set up for artists and community leaders with special abilities and identifications curated and supported by the Mambya dance Co/foundation in partnership with the village committee to help the artists from Bugisu who have been part of the Tuzinne festival where human rights dance have a safe space where they can grow as leaders and as artists and also support other young people.
The heavy rains and floods that took place in August 2022 hit the centre down and some artists got physically hurt but fortunately, no one lost their lives.
The rainbow village is required to be set up again, building the community hall, which is a drop-in space/lounge with a seating area that holds educational gatherings of different groups at the centre, an events hall, an eating area which operates as a library and a place where peer-to-peer programs happen, as well as a safe space for people with special needs.
