"Literacy is a bridge from misery to hope." -Kofi Annan SPELLAFRICA B2S ADULT LITERACY PROJECT is an award winning program by SpellAfrica Initiative, a Nigerian non-governmental organization (NGO). Currently over 62 million adults in Nigeria are non-literates, which is 31% of the country’s population. Many of them are jobless & in extreme poverty simply because of their non-literacy status. Additionally, they don’t understand their rights and duties, which poses a danger to them as citizens. This program provides non-literates in Nigeria, especially women, with a second chance to achieve their dreams through free adult literacy classes. By helping them become functional literates, they can lift themselves out of extreme poverty through university studies, better jobs, and entrepreneurship. To date SpellAfrica has helped over 2000 students. This fundraiser will provide course scholarships to 100 people in need, plus a reliable vehicle for student/staff transportation.
