This project support 300+ orphans throughout Ecuador in eight orphanages by providing funds to help cover the nutritional, educational, medical, physical, and psychosocial needs of both healthy and severely disabled orphans. Orphanages are located in Quito, Cuenca, and Azoques, Ecuador.
A portion of the funds will support a special orphanage in Cuenca that cares for severely disabled youth who are bedridden, in wheelchairs, or learning how to walk and talk due to disease or disability. The orphans at this orphanage are not able to eat, drink, move, or do basic daily tasks so they require 24-hour care from loving orphanage workers and volunteers who live and serve in Ecuador full time. The other seven orphanages serve children who have suffered some type of traumatic life event, such as abandonment, physical abuse, sexual abuse, parental incarceration, parental drug use, war, conflict, homelessness, severe health issues, extreme poverty, and other traumatic life events.
