Men's mental health is often ignored due to stigma surrounding men and the perception they need to be strong, self-sufficient, etc. Within the community of Strathcona County (1 million people) there is great need for financial support to give families access they require to help their loved one get help they need, to stabilize the family unit and to move forward. It is common for people with mental health challenges to also experience financial challenges (inability to maintain work, lost time due to illness, appointments). Having resources available to get proper support can make all the difference in moving towards the path of healing. The intent of this project is to help support these men, and their families, with sponsorships for counselling, fitness, nutrition, specialized medical treatment, alternative treatments and supplements, associated travel and accommodation costs. Must have a confirmed mental health diagnosis with special consideration to those with complex issues.
