Junior Farmers' Camp introduces in need children to sustainable agriculture, healthy living and environmental stewardship through discovery, play and plenty of time getting their hands dirty farming in the Children’s Garden.
The expert staff at Rockland Farm Alliance will lead children, ages 6- 12, or entering grades 1 – 7, through a multitude of activities — such as gardening workshops, science experiments, planting, harvesting, animal care, crop sampling, bug hunts, cooking activities, foraging walks, nature crafts, and more — for a highly interactive, agricultural education. At the end of the week, each junior farmer takes home their field journal, recipes, unique knowledge and a new perspective on where food comes from and how it gets to our tables. Campers host their very own farm stand on Fridays to share with their families the culmination of all their hard work. This project will help us to work with local guidance counselors and other non-profits to give struggling families a chance to send their children to camp at no cost. Help us support the children in our community as they learn lifelong healthy habits!
