I’m supporting Anak Kita Foundation in raising money for “Kitchen of Hope” - child abandonment prevention project that offers single pregnant mothers a system of support to allow them to stay WITH and NURTURE their babies. In Indonesia, the crisis of orphanhood and newborn child abandonment has reached catastrophic levels, placing the country 6th globally in the number of children living in foster care institutions. Women are denied the right to abortion at the state level, and out-of-wedlock pregnancies subject mothers to severe societal shame, often resulting in child abandonment. To reduce the rate of child abandonment and provide preventative support, this life saving project will offer single pregnant mothers a comprehensive support system that includes: shelter and a safe home, a nurturing sisterhood and job opportunities with consistent employment.
