The project his year is a Christmas Carnival for 150 refugee families at the Bud Baileys Housing Connect in Salt Lake City. For the past 2 years, Project Shine has provided a Christmas gift for 300 refugee children and a family gift for each household. Last year, Project Shine was able to give each family a blanket which had a great impact on the children. Many of these children shared one blanket with their siblings. Along with the gifts, Project Shine provided the families and children a fun afternoon of crafts, and other activities to celebrate the magic of Christmas. These gifts also included books for these children to help learn English and provided some educational learning for the families. These refugee families have literally come from their homeland with nothing but what they are wearing. Sanitation kits were also provided. This year Becoming You has joined Project Shine with hopes to offer the same Christmas Carnival to provide some essential temporal needs for the children
