Raising money to buy sterile single use bottles and teats used in the only Human Milk Bank in Romania for feeding the babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of the Marie Curie Hospital in Bucharest. 400 seriously ill newborns are admitted here every year and receive the best care in a modern unit. They also deserve the best food possible: mother’s milk from their own mother, or from donor mothers. Our association built the bank and supports it by covering most of the costs. 2020 has been tough: due to the pandemic and restrictions, many babies cannot get milk from their own mothers, so doctors rely on donated milk that is tested, pasteurized, frozen and ultimately offered in sterile bottles. We use annually around 63,000 bottles (FDA food grade polypropylene, BPA & BPS free) and 30,000 latex-free teats. We have to raise $32,000 yearly!
