Through our project, we provided free eye check-ups for app. 750 vulnerable children in Romania. Many families deal with extreme poverty, illiteracy and sometimes absence of parents. One or both parents are sometimes in prison or working abroad. This makes access to education and medical services difficult for many children. Education is the only solution for children to escape the cycle of poverty. And having good eyesight is a crucial part of being able to receive this education. The Good House Association started the ophthalmological caravan in May 2021, but they didn't have all the necessary equipment to continue. Through the project, they were able to buy specialized equipment for eye checkups, including accessories and other necessary materials for one year. In some cases, they identify more serious eye-problems, needing urgent care. Through this project, vulnerable children are given access to medical services, to education and a chance to break the cycle of poverty!
