Bringing Much-Needed Therapy to Children in Our Community Horses Bring Healing to Children

This match enabled us to provide 10 children with hippotherapy services at InStride Therapy for one year. Thanks to doTERRA We were able to increase the number of children we served.

For example, when Darrell began hippotherapy at InStride about a year ago, he was almost 3 years old. He was just starting to eat pureed foods but was primarily fed through his G-tube. His horse was Grace because of her smooth movements and gentle nature. Darrell’s first time on the horse was for 10 minutes with physical support to sit upright. He needed a good deal of encouragement and singing to stay on and be comfortable and would occasionally make sounds.

Now Darrell loves the horse’s movement. He can participate in puzzles and other tasks on the horse instead of throwing or pushing away everything presented to him. He pats his side-walker’s hands and babbles to them the entire time he’s on the horse. He’s a little inspiration, and he’s nowhere near reaching his very high potential!
