This project was born when the war in Ukraine which left us all in shock begun. Social workers and other specialists from our association have woken up on the battlefield and were forced to face many cases of people in dire need of help. Single mothers, children without any attendants, sick teenagers after many days of travel on the road and borders, elderly without any energy left, we saw everything and we tried to help everyone. The images of hundreds of refugees entering the country through Sighetu Marmatiei were impressive, and the time pressure to solve their problems was huge.
In the last four months, we offered warm food daily for Ukrainian refugees. Each month new groups of persons came along (institutionalized children who were caught in the middle of the war, people with disabilities and sick people) who were in transit through Maramures,their staying being of 4-5 days.
In this context, the funding provided by the dōTERRA Healing Hands Foundation was like a breath of oxygen
The project
When we were overwhelmed by the number of refugees arriving in our country by the border near Sighetu Maramatiei, we searched for solutions in other to provide the help that was needed.
Mothers with traumatized children, sick people, some of them having illnesses in a terminal phase, elderly people without any energy left after hundreds of kilometers travelled across a battlefield,
The financial resources were also important because each of the Ukrainians who arrived in Maramureș needed first of all a bed, hot food and products of strict necessity.
