Feeding Asylum Seekers in Shelters Practically and Sustainably Borderlands Sustainable Food Project

We contributed to the project so the shelter could create water systems for the greenhouse and animals, more hens for eggs and nutrition, and earthworms to turn waste into fertilizer!

The sustainability projects drastically reduced the overhead for our partner shelters in Juarez and the funds provided by the Healing Hands initiative were instrumental in allowing the migrants, sometimes waiting years for their entry into the United States, to be involved in projects that aided in their own sense of

dignity and self-worth while supporting their communities.

Chickens to care for, producing food for many months to come!

Nutritious food to enjoy for all who are sheltered.

Food is so important - it sustains us, it provides a social focal point, and it is fun.
