Guatemala has one of the highest rates of illiteracy in Latin America, with one of the lowest percentages of GDP spent on education. Child Aid addresses these problems through a structured, multi-year curriculum based on international best practices and aligned with the Guatemalan National Curriculum.
Our project was focused on providing high quality, grade appropriate, Spanish language, fiction and non-fiction books, along with an easy classification system and moveable bookshelves, to help remedy the lack of resources in primary school classrooms.
During the grant period, we delivered 10,000 high-quality, grade appropriate, Spanish language fiction and non-fiction books and help create school libraries and lending programs.
