Providing iron-fortified cookies and education for caregivers for 6500 children ages 4-5 in the Lima area Anemia Relief for children in Peru

Anemia is common is Peruvian children and this intervention was aimed at preventing and treating anemia in children ages 4-5 years old. Participating children each received a one-month supply of iron-fortified, Nutri-H cookies. During this 30 day time period the children were monitored by healthcare workers. These same workers provided workshops to caregivers on how to prevent anemia in these children.
Yami is one of the 6,500 children helped through this initiative. He is 5 years old and lives in Cusco.
