Our curriculum, “Keeping Students Safe”, aims to instill value, worth, and purpose in each girl, so that they won’t be as easily lured by the false promises of a trafficker. Additionally, we teach practical safety
planning and talk through safe ways to get out of dangerous situations.
Practically, we arrive with pizza, games and prizes, and workbooks with our curriculum. The group facilitator opens with a get-to-know you game, and then we begin to talk about how to stay safe from a
trafficker, including online safety. These are difficult conversations, so building rapport and establishing a true sense of safety is important.
A significant part of our programming addresses emotional needs
because often that longing to be loved—innate to every human—unfilled, will cause the youth to be more susceptible to a trafficker posing as a boyfriend who cares about her. Our job is to equip each
student to recognize these tactics and believe in her own value and worth.
