We brought the forest school experience to children from Marginimea Sibiului. Equipped with the right winter gear they set off for an adventure that changed their image on school, learning and education. They were thrilled to discover that learning can be fun. They spent time with their friends, freely explored the outdoors, chose what they wanted to learn or do .
They remembered what it was like to play. And they regained their sense of adventure and their curiosity.
Our educator and biologist organised forest learning sessions outside the village forest. They received fresh and healthy veggie based snacks and fruits. They had the opportunity to play and thus, to learn. Resilience, critical thinking, motricity, personal and social development - these are the main values of a nature-based learning program. All of these can be taught by simply climbing a tree. In a world transformed by the pandemic, we managed to safely take children outside and remind them it is alright to play!
