The beautiful valleys of Alta Verapaz Guatemala were chosen as the doTERRA® Co-Impact Sourcing® location for cardamom essential oil.
In 2014, we partnered with CHOICE Humanitarian to build the Sikaab’e Training Center, helping provide access to vocational training, education, a model farm and community resources.
In 2015 the Sikaab’e Cardamom drying facility was built and has helped increase the quality and price for farmers’ pods.
In February of 2015, volunteer Wellness Advocates painted the walls at the Sikaab’e Training Center, terraced the soil on the mountainside, and placed septic tanks.
“I am so excited for what the future holds as our Cō-Impact Sourcing initiatives continue to bless the lives of the humble, hard-working people in Guatemala. Sustainable jobs are being created, education and health care are more readily available, and a new perspective on the quality of life is given. We are committed to lifting up this community of cardamom harvesters and many others.”
