On March 24, the country of India mandated a national lockdown. On directive by the Indian government 876 children from Miracle Foundation supported orphanages have been placed into families in their communities. The Child Welfare Committee did this with the intention of lessening the spread of the coronavirus. The families are daily wage earners, who already struggle to feed their family. Now, without work, they are desperate. They need immediate and emergency assistance. As of this week, Miracle team members have deployed close to 500 emergency packages of rice, wheat, oil, dal, milk, vegetables, soap, toothpaste, sanitary supplies and surgical masks to these families. This project will provide COVID-19 emergency packs for an additional154 families (924 people) in India who are caring for children placed into families by Miracle Foundation.
