The strength of Maui is being uncovered through laulima, people working together with the ʻāina, our beloved land. Each tree we plant through Kealakekua Mountain Reserve’s initiative is a pledge by our local community to cultivate resilience and mālama, care for, our ecosystem.
Spanning 9,627 acres on the western coast of the Big Island, Hawai’i, sits Kealakekua Mountain Reserve (KMR)—home to the largest reforestation effort in the state. KMR was established by dōTERRA, in partnership with the Hawaiian government, to conserve and protect the native forest while also rebuilding and regenerating a delicate ecosystem which had previously been threatened by two centuries of over-logging and grazing.
Working with Maui locals, KMR is extending their efforts to assist in the restoration efforts in Maui. The reforestation journey will start soon, allowing time for site preparation, seedling growth, and community readiness. With your support—and existing support from local stakeholders—we want to bring green life back in the wake of the fires. This movement isn’t just about planting trees. It’s about cultivating hope, resilience, and a brighter future for Maui.
