We are in Phase III of the joint effort between Healing Hands, Mundo Exchange and ACEFOMI - Construction of the Educational Center to ensure that Maya Ixil children and adults have a Center where they can learn to read and write in Ixil and Spanish, attain vocational skills and learn about their heritage, culture and indigenous Maya rights. In addition your funds will provide education for 60 young students during the 2021 school year, and provide education, tools, and propagation supplies for the Greenhouse that was completed in 2020. ACEFOMI is a women’s organization in Chajul Guatemala that promotes indigenous women and children’s rights as Maya citizens, including the basic right of education. Mundo Exchange has worked with ACEFOMI since 1995 on projects that promote self-esteem, personal and family hygiene, mental health, nutrition, indigenous children and women’s rights, the recovery of memories of the 36-year armed conflict, child and adult literacy and economic stability.
