The Southern Maryland Boot Scooters is a non-profit organization that performs and teaches line dancing. We perform at numerous charity events, assisted living centers, nursing homes, senior centers, health expos and county fairs. The senior population has always been the most appreciative of our performances and learning simple line dances. Research has shown that line dancing offers better protection against various forms of dementia than walking or cycling. Line dancing is great exercise and a wonderful stress relief. The team is funded solely by donations and fundraising events . We conduct numerous fundraising events throughout the year to support the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. Through the Healing Hands Project we hope to further our fundraising ability by obtaining needed equipment and uniforms and strengthen our presence in the community.
